Why consider counselling?

If you are feeling low, overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or caught in patterns that aren't working for you, counselling can offer a place to slow down, speak openly, make better sense of things, and find a way forward.

Counselling isn’t about diagnoses, labels, or telling you how you should feel. Rather, we will work collaboratively to identify your challenges and goals, and work towards them at your pace, and in a way that works best for you.

Why consider me as your counsellor?

I work with a wide variety of people, including those facing anxiety, depression, relationships, sexuality, addiction, life changes, and questions of meaning or identity. I also do long-term work with people seeking deeper meaning in their lives, grounded in a solid understanding of philosophy and Jungian psychology.

However, there's no 'best' approach to counselling. The effectiveness of talking therapy depends on several factors, including the counsellor's skill, experience and training. What’s more important, though, is the connection between the counsellor and the client.

That's why I offer all new clients a free 30-minute video consultation] - so we can decide whether we think we'll be able to work well together, without risk or obligation.

A bit about me

Prior to studying integrative psychotherapy in the UK and undertaking postgraduate training in counselling here in Australia, I had an extensive career in scientific research, government, consulting, and thought leadership.

I have lived in several countries and travelled widely; studied physics, psychology and philosophy extensively; and have remained committed over many years to personal growth and development through my own therapeutic journey, and through ongoing training and professional supervision.

As a result, I bring relational warmth, therapeutic skill, and broad life experience to my practice, along with a deep interest in how people make sense of themselves and their lives.

Qualifications include: Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy; Graduate Certificate in Counselling; Certificate in Therapeutic Skills and Studies; Master of Philosphy (Physics); Master of Public Policy and Management; Bachelor of Laws

“What struck me early on is Daniel’s intelligence and warmth, and his interest in what I have to say. He really listens and engages, and he helped me name things I had trouble finding words for.”

"Daniel is caring, compassionate and thoughtful. I felt completely supported, understood and able to express myself freely. Our work together helped me feel grounded and less isolated."
